In yet another instance of gangrape, a 17-year-old girl was assaulted by five minor teenaged boys, in Hyderabad, last Saturday. The girl was “thrown out” of the car after the abuse. She returned home only to share her ordeal on Tuesday, after prodding by her parents about the marks on her neck.
The case was lodged on June 1 and the victim’s family, suspecting police inaction given that the boys are from influential families, has finally sought help from the political leaders. The high-profile case is now being probed under public glare.
Eyewitnesses confirm that the girl was picked up by the boys in their Mercedes Benz around 6 pm on May 28. The boys are all from wealthy and political influential families and one of the accused is stated to be the son of a AIMIM MLA.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the girl was waiting to hitch a ride. The boys, on their way, saw her and offered. She was then taken to an isolated point in the high-end Jubilee Hills area.
“A complaint has been lodged with the Jubilee Hills police station. The girl has also received injuries, notably on the neck. Since, the case falls under POCSO, details are not being made available in public domain,” stated police sources.
Meanwhile, Opposition BJP leader K.S Rao has lambasted the state of affairs in Telangana. “CM KCR is busy travelling around the country. The lawlessness here has reached the pits. Hyderabad is known for its night-life and such cases only bring to the fore the dark side behind all the fake glitz.”
