In a gruesome incident, a 46-year-old Gujarati motel owner has been shot dead in the city of Newport in the state of North Carolina, USA. Originally hailing from Navsari, 46-year-old Satyen Nayak was killed by point blank gun shots by a white American homeless man who had sneaked in the motel to sleep. Nayak was trying to evict him.
The Hostess House Motel on Highway 70 was owned by a Gujarati named Satyen Nayak, who was also the manager of the hotel. Satyen Nayak was running this motel along with his family. Satyen Nayak, who was lying injured outside the motel room, was rushed by the police to the Carteret Healthcare Center in Morehat City, but he breathed his last before receiving treatment there, Newport Police infored.
The assailant opened fire when Satyen Nayak trying to evict who had barged into his motel. After shooting Satyen Nayak, the assailant locked the door of the room. A special response team was called by the police to extricate him who identified the person as Leon Callum, and spoke to him on phone. However, attempts to get him out of the motel reamined unsuccessful and while the Special Response Team entered the motel, assailant shot himself.
The police had to lock the schools around the motel as a precautionary measure and even considered to stop the traffic on Highway 70.
