A grand Indian wedding, promoted by Hindi film actor Ranbir Kapoor, is under scrutiny. The wedding, for which expenditure of around Rs 200 crore was allegedly paid in cash, reportedly took place in Ras Al-Khaimah in the UAE.
According to a news report, the actor allegedly did promotional activities for a certain Mahadev betting app, promoted by the groom, which alarmed the ED. The wedding saw private jets for guests and had Bollywood celebrities on the invite list.
The report added that ED divulged details regarding the wedding as part of its probe in September. Guests were flown into RAK from Nagpur via private jets.
Additionally, hotel room bookings were made worth around Rs 42 crore with the sum paid in UAE Dirhams. The report said that ED claimed that film stars were paid to perform at the event. Media houses claim that Tiger Shroff, Sunny Leone, Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Asgar, Bhagyashree, Pulkit and Bharti Singh attended the event.
The event organisers engaged wedding planners, dancers, and decorators from Mumbai, and used hawala channels to make payments in cash. ED is investigating the unaccounted, illegal riches flaunted by them.
