For the last few days, several parts of India have been witnessing heatwave with some regions in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi recording the maximum temperature above 47 Degrees Celsius. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that some states in the country will get relief from the harsh heat conditions while Northwest and Central India will continue to face the prevailing heatwave in the month of May.
Delhi-NCR, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat are expected to witness above-normal temperatures in May, the IMD stated in its statement.
The forecast showed that Kutch and North Gujarat regions are expected to experience very high temperatures with rest of Gujarat experiencing high temperatures above normal.
Ahmedabad with 44 Degrees Celsius temperature was the hottest place in Gujarat on Sunday. Also, Kandla recorded 43.5 Degrees and Rajkot recorded 43 Degrees to be the second and third hottest places in the state respectively.
With prevailing conditions of a heatwave in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Kutch, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 43 Degrees Celsius. However, in the coming three-four days, the maximum temperature is expected to witness a gradual fall of two-three Degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.
