As heavy rains continue to lash Gujarat, Ahmedabad roads have become potholes. Citizens complain that crores of money are washed by the rain in Ahmedabad due to the unscientific approach towards the road infrastructure development by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
This situation is causing accidents in many areas of the city like Vastral, Danilimda, Narol and Fatewadi. On Saturday, a huge landslide hit the busy road in the city’s Vastral area at noon. The video of this incident is going viral on social media. Locals said that an excavation was done some time ago, 100 meters away from the site of the landslide, and the water was released into a drainage chamber very close to the landslide.
Locals had claimed that the landslide occurred due to the negligence of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Then the locals blocked the road initially by barricading it.
A few days ago large landslide occurred in Fatewadi, heavily damaging a car but the driver was safe. An (AMC) official responded that it was a sudden downpour with no signs. Similarly, a big pothole is visible in Narol. Residents had filed complaints in the AMC, but the response was that there was no time for the authority to fix the potholes. Now a sign barricade had been put up by the AMC just in front of the pit.
Also, there is a pothole on the main road near Jeevan Park in the Isanpur area. The pothole has become a problem for motorists as the balance of the sewer line is also not equal to the road.
