Gujarat Congress slammed Hardik Patel on Thursday, saying that Patel revealed his opportunistic political character, when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Addressing a press conference, Congress Chief Spokesperson Manish Doshi said that Hardik Patel was a pseudo-Patidar leader with malicious ideology.
Former Congressman Hardik Patel joined the BJP today and his inculcation ceremony was led by party president C.R. Paatil.
Gujarat Congress President Jagdish Thakor spoke to VO! Regarding Hardik Patel’s decision. He said that Patel’s unrestrained statements and actions show his true political character.
During the press conference Gujarat Congress Core Committee member Dr. Indravijay Singh Gohil stressed that Congress gave respect and opportunity to all the leaders who rose through ranks. Hardik Patel was made the Congress Working President and received people’s mandate. Yet, he chose to back-stab the party and people to join the BJP.
“We will highlight this nature of turncoats as a discussion with the local people in our upcoming party campaigns. We want to ask these turncoats why have they joined a party that is anti-Dalit, anti-minority, anti tribal and anti-constitution? What is their ideology?,” Gohil added.
Congress leadership highlighted the fact that Patel was made a star campaigner during the recently-held Assembly polls in five states. He was seen criticising Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and the BJP. Post assembly elections, he suddenly started cursing Rahul Gandhi and Congress leadership. “Hardik entered politics through the Patidar agitation demanding rights and criticising the BJP. Now it’s clear that Patidar’s agitation was a tool for him to achieve power in greed and he joined the folk of unethical politicians,” Manish Doshi said.
