Former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, who is trailing Donald Trump by a significant margin, has flayed both Trump and Joe Biden, calling the two “too old” and “dangerous” for the nation. She said she would back Trump if he were to win the nomination but mentioned that there must be an alternative.
Trump has 77.7% of the national Republican vote, and Haley has 16.4%. Trump leads Haley by almost 30 points in two recent polls in her home state. Haley raised more money than Trump in January, which should help her stay in the contest longer.
Ironically, she also expressed concerns about Trump regaining the presidency, calling him unstable, unhinged, distracted and obsessed with his demons in the past. She accused him of spending campaign money on personal lawsuits, intimidating his opponents, and siding with Putin over US allies. Additionally, she said he takes a swipe at the military.
Haley said that America needs “a new generational leader” who can bring stability and focus on solutions.
According to a report in The Hindustan Times, Haley told NPR’s Steve Inskeep that “the majority of Americans dislike Donald Trump and Joe Biden.” She called Biden “more dangerous” owing to his policies on immigration and the economy.
Chris Vance, a former Washington state lawmaker and GOP chair who is a strong baiter of Trump, said that Haley endorsing him would jeopardise her career.
