Gujarat’s tableau, depicting the ‘Dhordo World Tourism Village-UNWTO’, received two awards at the 75th Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. It was voted as the best tableau by the people of India and the second best by the jury of experts. The tableau showcased the cultural and tourism heritage of Gujarat, especially the Rann Utsav Dhordo, which was recognised by the United Nations World Tourism Organization as the ‘World Best Tourism Village’ in 2023. The tableau also highlighted the digital transformation of rural Kutch under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel. The tableau was accompanied by the Bhatigal garba, a UNESCO-listed ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage’ of Gujarat.
The tableau was presented by the Government of Gujarat along with 24 other tableaus from different states, Union Territories, and ministries at the Kartavya Path in New Delhi. The parade was attended by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and President of France Shri Emmanuel Macron, who were the chief guests of the 75th Republic Day celebrations.
The people of India chose Gujarat’s tableau as their favourite through online voting on the ‘MyGov Platform’. Gujarat’s tableau received 32 per cent of the votes, the highest among all the tableaus. This was the second consecutive year that Gujarat’s tableau won the ‘People’s Choice Award’. The jury of experts also appreciated Gujarat’s tableau and ranked it as the second best among all the tableaus. This was the second time that Gujarat’s tableau received the ‘Jury’s Choice Award’, after 2008.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel congratulated the people of Gujarat for this remarkable achievement and said that it was a testament to the state’s excellence in the field of tourism and cultural heritage. He also thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his visionary guidance and support. Gujarat received the honour from Shri Ajay Bhatt, Minister of State for Defense and Tourism, in New Delhi.
