It has been revealed in the state assembly that the state has collected fine worth Rs 249.81 crore from the people who violated the rule of wearing mask compulsorily in last 2 years.
It was revealed while replying to a question asked by opposition regarding the fine collection done by state government.
The government has said that 36.27 lakh people were fined by state police in between the date 1/02/2020 to 21/01/2022 for violating the mask rule in which 52,907 people refused to pay the fine on spot. State government started collecting fine from 200₹ which they raised to ₹500 and then 1000₹ were strictly implemented as fine for violation of mask rule
6.79 people in Ahmedabad have been fined during this span of time. Police have collected 54.33 cr in last 2 years. In year 2020, the state police collected fine of Rs 27.85 crore from 3.65 lakh offenders and in year 2021 state police collected fine of Rs 27.49 crore from 3.13 lakh offenders.
Fine worth Rs 123 crore has been collected in 4 major cities of the state including Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara. While fine worth Rs 126 crore has been collected by remaining 29 cities of the state in the same duration.
