Instagram is an American photo and video sharing social networking service, founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. This app allows photo sharing, videos, latest news, updates, entertainment, and most importantly, it is free of cost. People use this app so that they can stay updated on everything, many follow their favorite personalities to stay updated on their lives. But, there have been some changes in its policies and of it is The Subscription Feature. This feature will enable the users to subscribe to their favorite creators and get access to exclusive content. This feature is in its testing phase and the grant has been given to 10 US Based creators. In a recent post they have introduced this feature explaining what will be provided. The subscriptions are made available at Rs85 per month for Indian users.
So VoI decided to take a little survey on this with Gujarat based famous creators, these creators believe in giving exclusive and creative content to their followers, these creators, Hemang Dave, Manan Dave, Om Bhatt and Deep Vaidya, give their opinions on this feature. The reviews were a mix of negative and positive sides of this feature.
In an interview with VoI, Thai Jashe fame Hemang Dave says,” If instagram will launch the subscriptions both the parties are at loss as the viewers won’t be able to get an insight of the content their favorite personalities are posting, and the creators will lose their reach. Not everyone is willing to buy subscription for everyone they like. There would be more cases of plagiarism then.”
Similarly upcoming sensation Manan Dave had similar concerns, he says “this feature might affect his reach as if he has 100k views on his recent reel, after this subscription feature it might drop to 50k, plagiarism cases will increase as many people want to access free content on this platform at least.”
But for The Comedy Factory artists, Om Bhatt and Deep Vaidya, this feature can turn out to be a boon with a curse. Deep Vaidya says, in an exclusive interview with VoI, “ this feature will turn out to be beneficial for the creators, especially local creators as it would be a way to earn money, for them, they will get encouraged to create more exclusive content and their followers would see something new and unique every time they are on instagram” he also adds further that if given a chance to access they would expand their content and make stuff available to their most engaged users, but yes the content will be exposed as no one can put a stop on plagiarism on this platform.”
Om Bhatt had a similar review on this and both the team members had the same point of view, Om Says, “as a team they would try to grow with this feature as even if the reach is low they will get paid and eventually many will buy the subscriptions out of curiosity.” later he adds “ this feature is indeed going to work if they’ll launch it.”
