While Lucknow Supergiants and Gujarat Titan are the two new additions to IPL ’22, there is another novelty factor lined up too. This season will also have a commentary in Gujarati.
Among the panel selected are Irfan Pathan, Kiran More, and Nayan Mongia. Word is abuzz of a popular Gujarati RJ also being included in the commentary board.
“Maharashtra has the highest number of cricket viewers. According to the market and this time in IPL 74, matches will be shown in the Marathi language. Apart from this, the Gujarat team is new, so we are doing Gujarati commentary for the first time”, said Sanjog Gupta, head (Sports), Disney Star.
IPL 2022 is scheduled from March 26 (Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai) to May 29. A total of 74 T20 matches will be played between the 10 contesting teams. Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions and will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening match.
Gujarat Titans unveiled their team jersey on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. The launch happened with the presence of captain Hardik Pandya, head coach Ashish Nehra, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, MP Parimal Nathwani and other team officials.
