Denied compensation for his husband’s death, Manishaben Bhavnagariya knocked the doors of Gujarat High Court. The 34-year-old’s husband – Dineshbhai was a primary school principal at Sarva village in Botad district and was assigned Covid-19 duties by the authorities. On his death, the hospitals did not clearly mention the cause of death in his death certificate.
Bhavanagariya in her petition has said, “After working as corona warrior and serving his duty for months, he showed symptoms of Covid-19. Followed by this, he was clinically diagnosed and his treatment was done as a covid patient.”
Justice Sangeeta Vishen, after a preliminary hearing of the petition, asked the authorities to file a reply mentioning the reason behind missing out on the cause of death on the certificate. She has further issued a notice to the Botad district panchayat education department to place on record, its decision of denying Bhavnagariya’s compensation of Rs 25 lakh over the death of his husband – a covid warrior.
