Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said on Sunday that Gujarat will conduct the “Grand Olympics” in the future. In the poll-bound state, he addressed the media persons at Kamalam, the BJP’s Gujarat headquarters.
When asked about the capability of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar to host international sports events such as the Olympics, he said, “Not only will we be able to host the Olympics, we will organize grand Olympics in the future.” The host nation will be concluded by the year 2025.
“With just three months for preparation, Gujarat hosted what I feel is the best national games so far,” Thakur said. “Gujarat has the biggest cricket stadium in the world and Sardar Patel Sports Complex (coming up beside the stadium) will have facilities for 22 sports. Naranpura Sports Complex is also coming up.”
The BJP disclosed their election manifesto on Saturday, with one of the primes focusing on constructing a world-class infrastructure to hold the Olympics games under their ‘Gujarat Olympics Mission’ by 2036.
Thakur also strikes Congress for misleading and lack of governance during their reign in Gujarat. He emphasised the rapid developmental ideas of the BJP, in which people will receive the facilities as soon as possible. Responding to a question on the 2002 Godhra riots, he said that youth should focus more on the brutal incidents that happened during Congress’s regimes.
