Former Gujarat Congress MLA from Khedbrahma Ashwin Kotwal will be joining the BJP at 12:39 PM on Tuesday at Kamalam, Gandhinagar in presence of Sabarkantha Member of Parliament Dipsinh Rathod and MLAs from the district.
A two-time MLA from the Khedbrahma, Ashwin Kotwal who hails from the ST community is keen to contest the next elections. He resigned from the congress party and as MLA on Monday.
The 50-year-old economics graduate, currently in the construction business and social work has been in active politics and social work in the district for a while now.
Speaking to the media Ashwin Kotwal said, “I have been functioning as an MLA from the Congress in Gujarat since 2007, I’ve known Narendra Modi’s working style when he was Gujarat’s, Chief Minister. Since then, he has left an impression on me.”
“Now it appears that if I want to bring about the development of the tribals in my area and work for them, the only party that can bring growth and development is the BJP,” he continued. As a result, I’m aligning myself with the BJP.”
His entry into BJP is significant as the rulling party has not been able to win Khedbrahma seat. Entry of two time MLA boosts their chances to change the quations in the upcoming assembly elections.
