GTU's Post-Exam Syllabus Announcement

In an unprecedented move, the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) announced the syllabus for its Master’s of Engineering course on January 2, 2024, days after the semester exams concluded on December 30, 2023. This has left the students perplexed, questioning the validity of their exam preparation.

The timing of the syllabus announcement has raised concerns about the content taught during the first semester. If the university had not declared the syllabus until after the exams, it begs the question – what was the curriculum followed by the colleges during the semester?

Adding to the complexity, GTU had introduced approximately 25 new branches, including Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, among others. According to the university’s academic calendar, the first semester commenced on August 10, 2023. Ideally, the syllabus should have been announced before the start of the semester, allowing students and faculty to align their studies and teaching respectively.

This incident has underscored the need for timely syllabus declaration to ensure a smooth and effective learning process. It remains to be seen how GTU will address this issue and prevent such occurrences in the future.
