In what is seen as a significant boost to the tourism sector in the state, Gujarat inked at least 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth investments to the tune of Rs 4,490 crore. The deals are likely to generate more than 11,500 direct and indirect jobs.
Among the noteworthy collaborations is a groundbreaking initiative between Mazagon Dock Shipbuilder Limited and the state, giving rise to a unique project in the tourism sector. This venture aims to construct a submarine, with capacity to seat 32 people, dedicated to underwater adventure tourism in Dwarka. It will enable tourists to explore marine life, soft corals, hydroids, and sea anemones.
Furthermore, it provides a special opportunity to witness archaeological/historical sites and a submerged city. The project, set to commence next year, is expected to employ approximately 100 individuals.
Film maker Ketan Mehta signed an MoU exceeding Rs 200 crore. His MoU was besides Rs 255 crore MoUs with five film production companies which will invest in Gujarat in the film production sector and generate about 2,450 jobs.
MoUs were also signed in the hospitality sector to develop luxurious hotels, resorts and villas in various hot destinations of the state.
MoUs were formalised between the Civil Aviation Department of the state government and the Airport Authority of India to focus on advancement and development of the aviation sector.
