Gujarat government has announced the reopening of schools for classes 1 to 9 from February 7 after the central government gave the green light to reopen the schools to states. An education department circular read, “Considering the COVID-19 situation, government, private and grant-in-aid schools can resume offline education for classes 1 to 9 from Monday.”
However, this does not mean that the schools will function entirely offline. The students can choose between online or offline mode. In December 2021, when the cases of Covid-19 infections began to rise rapidly the offline classes were suspended and as the numbers are declining, the government has decided to resume the classes in person.
Education Minister Jitu Vaghani tweeted in Gujarati regarding the reopening of schools. It said that the decision was taken after the issue was discussed with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and at the state’s core committee amid declining new coronavirus cases.
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the government earlier will be followed strictly in the offline classes.
