Gujarat recorded 10,019 cases – a drop of 10% from yesterday – and two deaths in the last 24 hours. With today’s update, the state’s active cases tally went up to 55,798 and the number fatalities since the start of the pandemic reached 10,144. The two people who succumbed to the infection were from Valsad and Navsari. Besides two deaths, as many as 54 patients are on ventilator support. No Omicron infections were logged for the fourth consecutive day.
The state has added over 44,709 cases in just five days; however, the doubling pace of infections has come down as what was seen a week back.
While Ahmedabad Corporation remained the biggest contributor with 3,090 cases, it was a decline of 15% compared to the tally on Thursday (3,673). Other major contributors include Surat (2,987), Vadodara (1,274), Rajkot (296), Valsad (183), and Gandhinagar (142). Ahmedabad rural recorded 74 cases.

India added 2,64,202 fresh coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry officials said today. The new cases mark a 6.7% rise from the 2.47 lakh fresh cases reported yesterday. A total of 5,753 Omicron cases are amongst all Covid-19 cases reported so far.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 14.8% — up from 13% yesterday — while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 11.9%
India also reported 315 new deaths, taking the total fatalities in India to 485,350, while active cases rose to 12,72,073.
The active cases comprise 3.48% of the total cases, while the national recovery rate decreased to 95.2 per cent, the ministry officials added.
