The Gujarat Police, has exposed a factory operating in the Pipalva village in Liliya Taluka of Amreli district, Gujarat and seized 2100 kg of fake ghee. The factory run in the garb of a water plant was fabricating spurious ghee. A formal complaint is lodged and four culprits behind the scam are identified.
The Food and Drugs Department collected samples of the ghee after the police operation concluded. The police revealed that they have seized the counterfeit ghee with an estimated value of 13.56 lakh rupees. The accused were using vegetable ghee, essence and other ingredients such as malai (cream) to manufacture ghee. The raw material to manufacture ghee has also been confiscated as evidence. Combined value of seized goods is about Rs. 22 lacs. The fake ghee was supplied to locations such as Nagpur and Jammu and Kashmir.
Charges have been filed against five individuals for their involvement in case. The main accused, Akash Vinjava, is currently at large and four others have been swiftly arrested.
