The police arrested one of their own, the woman constable Nita Chaudhary, who had been on the run since her bail application was rejected, after 12 days. She was arrested after the Gujarat ATS raided the location after receiving specific inputs.
The highly controversial Nita Chaudhary, famous for posting reels on social media accounts, notably Instagram, was hiding at Bhalgamda village near Limdi in the Surendranagar district of Gujarat. Chaudhary was granted bail initially by the lower court on July 3. The bail order was overturned as the higher court cancelled the bail on July 10 upon prosecution appealing against the bail. Chaudhary has been on the run ever since.
The 34-year-old woman was first arrested late at night on June 30 after a dramatic chase on National Highway 41, Bhachau. The Local Crime Branch police had to fire from the service revolver when the White Thar did not stop at the checkpoint and instead tried to run over the patrolling policemen. When stopped, the head constable of CID Crime, Kutch East, was found in the company of Yuvraj Sinh Jadeja, 30, who has 15 cases of bootlegging and one attempt to murder case registered against him. The police also seized 16 bottles of IMFL and two tins of beer from the car.
The story of Nita Chaudhary embodies the noble intents of slogans “Bhay Mukt Gujarat” and ” Beti Padhao” gone awry. Smiling and without any remorse when she was first arrested, Nita Chaudhary remained also unabashedly devoid of any hint of guilt when she is nabbed now.
Chaudhary had not restrained from making reels with rowdy swag and lip-synching to popular Bollywood songs, despite the police department instructing her not to act in contravention of rules.
In a sad commentary on the times we live, the controversial cop’s Instagram follower numbers have doubled ever since the unconventional cop was arrested and have crossed over 100K now.
