Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday alleged that the Congress party’s mindset is of “well-wishers of terrorists” and for being skeptical about the Batla House encounter that occurred in 2008, which was an act of terrorism.
PM Modi stated during his speech at a public rally in Surat, Gujarat, the Batla House encounter was an act of terrorism, but a Congress leader questioned it.
“The new generation of Gujaratis has not witnessed the Ahmedabad and Surat serial bomb blasts.” I’d like to warn them about those who wish terrorists well. “The Batla House Encounter was a terrorist act, but Congress leaders questioned it,” he said.
Earlier in the day, while speaking at a public meeting in Kheda district, PM Modi launched a series of attacks on Congress on the issue of terrorism, claiming that the Congress, which raised concerns about the surgical strike, sees terrorism as a source of votes.
According to PM Modi, terrorism was at its peak during the Congress’ rule, and the party targeted him rather than terrorists due to vote bank politics.
“Gujarat has long been a terrorist target.” Explosions in Surat and Ahmedabad killed a number of Gujarat residents. Congress was in charge at the time; we asked them to target terrorism, but they chose to target me instead. “Terrorism was at its peak in the country.”
PM Modi stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is working to eliminate the threat of terrorism.
“Your single vote in 2014 made a significant difference in the country’s fight against terrorism.” Terrorists have to think a lot even before attacking our borders. But Congress questions our surgical strike. The youth of the state, aged up to 25 years, have seen what a curfew looks like. “I have to save them from the bomb explosions, only the BJP double-engine government can do this,” he said.
Modi said that Congress considers terrorism as its vote bank, adding that several other parties indulging in appeasement politics have also arisen.
“Congress leaders cried in support of terrorists during the Batla House encounter.” Terrorism is also a vote bank for Congress. It is no longer just the Congress; several such parties have emerged, believing in a politics of expediency and appeasement,” PM Modi added.
