Gujarat Man Files FIR Against Himself For Wife’s Death

| Updated: February 7, 2024 17:15

In a strange incident, a man in Gujarat’s Narmada district filed an FIR against himself, for causing the death of his wife due to negligence.

The 55-year-old teacher, identified as Paresh Doshi, reportedly met with an accident while driving with his wife beside him on Kheroj-Khedbrahma highway, near Daan Mahudi village, in a bid to save a stray dog.

In recent times, there has been a noticeable increase in incidents involving stray dogs posing risks to public safety. These encounters have resulted in severe injuries for some individuals while tragically claiming the lives of others.

Doshi and his wife Amrita had set out to visit the Ambaji Temple early on Sunday. The tragedy reportedly took place on their return journey around 2 pm when a stray dog ran in front of their car. “I swerved to avoid hitting the canine and lost control of the vehicle, which rammed sideways into makeshift pillars and barricades on the roadside,” a remorseful Doshi said.

In the FIR lodged against himself, Doshi detailed the circumstances surrounding the accident, attributing it to his own negligence while attempting to evade the stray dog. The impact of the crash proved fatal for Amrita as one of the barricades pierced through the car’s passenger window, trapping her inside and inflicted grave injuries.

Recalling the frantic moments following the accident, Doshi said, “She suffered grievous injuries. Due to the impact, the auto lock mechanism got engaged, trapping us inside. Bystanders rushed to their rescue. Someone broke the glass on the window, opened the lock and helped us out of the car. Amrita was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead.”

Doshi then held himself accountable for the tragic incident and filed a complaint against himself for rash driving and causing death by negligence.
