A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) with Government of Gujarat for a joint conduct of the 36th edition of National Games, Gujarat 2022 on Friday.
Anil Khanna and Rajeev Mehta, Acting President and Secretary General of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) respectively, CM of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel, Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs and Cultural Activities Harsh Sanghavi and Gujarat Olympic Association (GOA) President Devendrasingh Solanki were among the dignitaries present at the time signing MoU.
“As the apex body of the Olympic movement in India, it was imperative upon us to extend all possible support to the Gujarat Government and Olympic Association. They have shown immense courage and determination to conduct a Games of this scale with a three-month lead time, which is unprecedented in the history of multi-sport event,” said Secretary General of IOA Rajeev Mehta.
“However, given their enthusiasm and efficiency, our expertise and smooth coordination a sense of camaraderie prevailing among all key stakeholders , we are confident that the best ever National Games, in line with the vision of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, will be delivered,” he added.
A logo for the 36th National Games, Gujarat 2022 was also launched at the occasion. The logo depicts Gujarat’s two enduring symbols – the Statue of Unity and the Gir Asiatic Lion.
Scheduled between September 27- October 10 in six cities of Gujarat, the 36th National Games, Gujarat 2022 will see participants from across all 28 states and eight Union Territories of India in 36 sports onboard for this edition.
