The govt school principal in Gujarat’s Valsad district was detained after allegations that he beat late-arriving students with sticks.
At least seven children were assaulted by the principal of Khadki Primary School, Samragni Manat, on Friday as they arrived at school after prayer had begun. Manat has been held; she will be arrested following a preliminary inquiry and a Covid-19 test. Valsad Superintendent of police Rajdeepsinh Jhala went to the Dharampur police station in light of how terrible the situation was.
The students were taken to the Pingalbari primary health centre for treatment on Saturday after complaining to their parents about hip, leg, and hand pain. They said that the principal struck them with a stick in front of the doctor. The PHC then informed the police about the incident.
A police officer said, “The students live in a hostel near the school. On Friday, they reached the school after the prayer had started. Angry over their irregularity, the principal assaulted them.” The students did not immediately notify their parents of the assault since they live in a hostel, instead complaining to them on Saturday.
The police officer further stated that, “The principal was upset as the students reached school late regularly and she hit them. The doctor at PHC confirmed the injury after examination.”
