Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has dismissed Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut’s claims that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and he shifted mega infrastructure and other development projects to Gujarat from Maharashtra.
“There is no such intention to shift any project to Gujarat. I urge people not to believe in rumours,” Shinde told a certain section of the media.
For context, Maharashtra’s first submarine tourism project, initially scheduled for a launch in the Sindhudurga district, is reportedly shifted to Gujarat.
Raut has pointed out that 17 mega projects have been shifted to Gujarat from Maharashtra after the formation of Shinde-led government in the state. He has said that Mumbai businessmen are distressed, following the shifts.
He has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unabashedly saying that Gujarat’s development is priority, even more essential than that of India.
Sparing no dig at Union Minister Narayan Rane, he insinuated that he couldn’t avert shifting the submarine project from Konkan despite hailing from that region. “He has no power. He should have announced that he would not allow the submarine project to be moved from Maharashtra,” Raut fumed.
