Gujarat until Saturday afternoon had inoculated 93% of the total population eligible for vaccination (over 18 years of age), the office of state health minister, Rushikesh Patel, told Vibes of India (VoI). The percentage of beneficiaries having received one dose of the vaccine stood at 94.3% until Saturday afternoon.
Gujarat has over 4.93 crore people above the age of 18 years. Of these, 4.02 crore beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far, data from the state health department revealed. The state had 38,14,835 vaccine stock available until the afternoon of December 18. In contrast, the state has over 59 lakh beneficiaries yet to be vaccinated with either of the doses.
“Our aim is to inoculate the remaining population over the coming weeks,” the office of state health minister said.
Meanwhile across India, with the administration of 62,06,244 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, its Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 136.7 crore as per provisional reports till 7 am on Saturday, the Union Health Ministry informed. This has been achieved through 1,43,67,288 sessions, according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
India’s active caseload is presently at 84,565. “This is the lowest in 569 days. Active cases constitute 0.24% of the country’s total positive cases, which is the lowest since March 2020,” the Union Health Ministry informed on Saturday.
