The first round of admissions under the Right To Education (RTE) Act was concluded on Thursday, May 5. Out of a total of 64,463 seats allotted in the first round till evening, the admissions are confirmed for 58,000 seats and about 6,000 are still vacant in Gujarat.
A total of 25 per cent of seats in private schools were allotted on April 26 in the first allotment round via online government procedure. In the first round, as many as 64,463 seats out of a total of 71,386 seats were allotted this year, while the remaining seats remained vacant due to lack of choice by parents.
Out of 64,463 children who were allotted admission in the first round, parents of around 58,000 children have confirmed the admission till late evening on Thursday. But at the present stage, a total of more than 13,000 seats are vacant. Now, the second round will be announced by the government in a few days, wherein the parents will be given the opportunity to change the selected school choice again and fill a new choice.
