The election heat wave in Gujarat will be over by the end of this month when the scheduled elections in two phases, December 1 and 5 will occur. In the meantime, political leaders are accusing each other of using provocative and misleading speeches in their campaigns.
Congress’s new president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the dominant leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using provocative speeches and therefore, creating unrest. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Kharge addressed a joint press conference. “This election has become important because BJP is doing false campaigning against the Congress and against Congress leaders. This election is the election of the people of Gujarat,” Kharge said.
“Today I got to know that in this polls people of the state are taking decisions in favour of the Congress and BJP knows this and that is why BJP’s national leaders are roaming in different wards. Even after 27 years of their rule, Prime Minister, Home Minister and five Chief ministers are coming here and giving provocative speeches while misleading the people. There must be fear behind that.”
In the last Gujarat assembly elections, BJP won 99 seats out of 182 seats. BJP has been ruling for 27 years now. Here and now, the BJP under the leadership of PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the state president CR Patil are aiming at 140 seats. Gujarat is the citadel of the BJP for so many years and the party has decided to continue their regime with a high margin.
With the arrival of Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP in Gujarat, the BJP feels threatened by the newbie. Congress is expecting their best chance to finish what they have started in 2017.
