Former Indian cricketer and Trinamool Congress MP Yusuf Pathan on Thursday approached the Gujarat High Court regarding a notice issued by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) about land encroachment.
On June 6, the notice was sent out, directing him to clear encroachments from a VMC-owned plot in Tandalja within 15 days.
Pathan informed the court that he had submitted an application for the land in 2012 and that the corporation had submitted another proposal in 2014. “I have recently been elected from a different party in the Lok Sabha elections, and attempts are being made to harass me,” he alleged.
He said that on June 6th, the notice was issued unexpectedly after 10 years of silence.
The Gujarat High Court has sought information from the VMC on the matter in response to the application.
Earlier, former VMC municipal councillor Vijay Pawar alleged that the former cricket star had unlawfully encroached into a property at Tandalja Town Planning Scheme number 22, final plot number 90 in particular.
