Omicron has officially entered Gandhinagar today, with a 15-year-old student who recently came from London who has tested positive for the omicron variant of the Corona Virus in Sector-1 of Gandhinagar. The student is currently being treated in a private hospital.
Since this case has been registered before the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022 in the state capital, a wave of anxiety has churned within the officials. Regarding this case, the officials are searching for those who have come under the contact of the infected teenagers.
Cases of the new variant of the Omicron variant are slowly yet alarmingly increasing in the state, about 10 cases have been reported in the state so far.
The 15-year-old NRI teenager is a resident of London, landed in Gandhinagar on 11th December. According to the health department sources, the teenager had undergone RT-PCR in Ahmedabad. Report quality usually more than 25 incoming reports are sent for genome sequencing. The teenager’s report was also sent to the lab for genome sequence testing, a week later, the report from the lab confirmed the omicron variant in the results. The teenager is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital, however, his family members’ reports have come negative so far.
With this, the state registered 51 cases today and recovered 55 patients. This takes the total number of recovered cases to over 8,17,000, current active cases at 571, the total number of deaths to 10,101 and the total number of discharged patients to 81,7814. Currently, the stable number of cases in the state are 561, with 4 patients on the ventilator and a total number of deaths of 10,101.
