The State Congress has initiated a novel approach for the selection of Lok Sabha candidates. A coordination committee meeting, chaired by Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Shaktisinh Gohil, was held at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The meeting, attended by leaders from 15 city districts of Gujarat, decided to form a three-member panel to select candidates through a “secret ballot.”
The selection process will involve writing the names of three potential candidates on ballot papers and depositing them in a ballot box. The selection criteria will consider factors such as the candidate’s local network and contribution to the party.
The meeting was attended by notable leaders including Amit Chavda, Madhusudan Mistry, Arjun Modhwadia, Siddharth Patel, and Shailesh Parmar. In addition to the new selection process, the party announced that new district presidents would be appointed by February 10, replacing unit presidents seeking relief.
