Gujarat Congress Legislative Party leader Amit Chavda has levelled serious allegations of collusion with the Chief Minister’s Office in covering up the rampant corruption in land-related scams. The opposition leader demanded to know why the investigation for Rs. 2000 crore land scam in Dumas is not going forward at a faster pace.
The Anklav MLA Amit Chavda sarcastically said the revenue department of the Gujarat government under BJP deserves an award for being implicated in so many scams. He accused the government of colluding with big industrial houses and allocating them state’s grazing lands at throw-away prices.
The former Gujarat Congress Chief claimed that 60 lakh square-metre land at Mulasana, near Kalol in North Gujarat, is sold by the government disregarding every rule in the book. He claimed that the land worth Rs.20,000 crores has been given NA certification by not only breaching the provisions of the Urban Land Ceiling Act and Land Tenancy Act but also by not bothering to seek permission from the charity commissioner.
The opposition leader referred to the Dumas land scam that shook Gujarat recently and accused the politicians’ hand behind the scam. It is pertinent to note that, State BJP president, all-powerful CR Paatil and Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, both come from the region. In this context, the opposition leader’s allegations carry serious meaning.
The Congress leader also talked about land scams in Dahod, Panchmahals, a region with tribal majority, where the news of usurping lands by those not entitled under the law has come out. He accused local BJP leaders in Dahod of the scam.
Attacking the ” Soft yet Strong” tag the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel has earned for his soft-spoken, mild-mannered behaviour, Amit Chavda said the Chief Minister is not firm in taking the required steps against the corrupt.
Amit Chavda demanded a discussion on all the land scams unearthed in the Monsoon session of the assembly.
