Gujarat Congress President and Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil has accused the state government of complicity in the tragic deaths of two patients under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) at Khyati Multispeciality Hospital in Ahmedabad.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Gohil said, “The government is involved in this. Fake officers and offices operate under this administration. Paper leaks are rampant in Gujarat. This incident is directly linked to those in power.”
On Tuesday, police issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) for four absconding individuals connected to the deaths of two patients: Nagar Senma (75) and Mahesh Barot (52). The patients, residents of Borisana village in Kadi taluka, North Gujarat, underwent angioplasty at Khyati Hospital on November 11 but tragically died on the same day.
Gohil told Vibes Of India that “a notice has been given in parliament to raise this issue nationally. A sitting High Court judge should supervise this case. The government must ensure that taxpayers’ money is not misused. Our heads hang in shame due to such incidents.”
The key accused who are still evading police include Kartik Patel, the hospital’s director; Chirag Rajput, the CEO; and two promoters, Dr Sanjay Patolia and Rajshree Kothari. Rajput briefly appeared before the media following the incident but has since gone into hiding as public outrage grew.
Six teams from the city crime branch conducted searches at multiple locations, including Khyati Hospital and the residences of the accused.
During the searches, authorities seized incriminating materials, including documents, pen drives, laptops and computers. Police have also engaged two cardiologists to examine the medical aspects of the case.
Gohil concluded by emphasising the need for accountability, saying, “This is not just a legal issue but a moral one. The government must act decisively to prevent such tragedies from recurring.”
