Kagdapith police on Thursday detained a compounder at an ENT hospital in Maninagar for supposedly killing two women on Wednesday. The police stated a 30-year-old woman died due to an excessive amount of anaesthesia during a surgical procedure on her eardrum.
The woman’s mother witnessed the alleged death of her daughter, who also got injured with a noxious dose of the anaesthetic and later, died at the hands of Mansukh Miyatra. The matter came into the limelight when a staff worker of Karna ENT Hospital opened a cupboard and found the dead body of 30-year-old Bharti Vala in it. Hospital officials later found the dead body of her mother, Champa Vala, 58, under the bed and covered with a bed sheet.
The doctor of the Hospital, Dr Arpit Shah, stated that she was required to have surgery on her eardrum which will cost her around Rs 30,000. Bharti informed Miyatra about the surgery and he offered her the surgery for just Rs 3,000.
ACP K Division, Milap Patel, informed that Bharti was suffering from an intense ear infection and Miyatra was treating her at Karna ENT Hospital. “Most of the time, only Miyatra, who was working at the hospital since 1999, had given her medicines. Later, her mother Champa also complained of an infection in her ear and Miyatra started treating her too,” Patel said.
