Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched Pahel, a new project aimed at improving the interaction between the police and the people of the state, on Monday.
CM Patel launched the “Pahel” during a seminar attended by Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi, Ahmedabad Mayor Kiritbhai Parmar, and senior police and municipal officials from Ahmedabad.
Various subject specialists, office bearers, and police officers will explain how the relationship between the police and the people becomes more courteous, peaceful, and the spirit of having a “police as a friend” emerges in the minds of the people during the one-day seminar.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ would be carried forward with the project ‘Pahel,'” the Chief Minister added.
‘Pahel’ is a campaign that promotes a friendly and mutually respectful relationship between the police and the public, emphasising the importance of everyone’s dignity.
The Chief Minister went on to say, “Good deeds leave an indelible impression on people. The cops will get a new level of respect as a result of this programme. This step will also help the cops improve their communication abilities.”
During the event, the city Police Department implemented the ‘Area Adoption Scheme’ to address the traffic problem with public participation. The scheme’s main goal is to solve traffic problems with public participation in the city’s most congested areas. The scheme will be implemented in stages throughout the city. To begin, 36 areas have been designated as adopted areas.
According to the scheme, the local residents, local leaders, NGOs, local merchants, local institutions, and so on, of a specific area will be expected to take joint responsibility for traffic in the related area and bring the necessary solution. It is believed that the public will adopt the area and voluntarily implement the scheme by understanding their responsibility and participation, rather than only government administration and enforcement agencies.
This one-day programme drew around 150 personnel from the Ahmedabad city police force.
