Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Monday, announced a significant raise in the relief fund paid by the government to the dependents of Gujarat’s martyred soldiers. The corpus is withdrawn from the Chief Minister’s Jawan Relief Fund.
In addition, also announced was an increase in the amount allocated to Gallantry Awards recipients. The posthumously awarded honour carries a stipend for the late soldiers’ families. Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghvi also stated that a high-level committee of secretaries will consider the remaining demands and report to the state government.
Gujarat government’s proposed list:
The present concessions for retired soldiers from Gujarat include:
• Reservation for ex-servicemen in state government jobs is 1% for class-1, 2% for class-2, 10% for class-3 and 20% for class-4.
• Also provided is 16 acres of land to former servicemen to support their families
