Gujarat CM Greenlights Rs 399 Cr Proposal For Two New River Bridges In North Gujarat

| Updated: June 23, 2024 19:31

The Gujarat government on Sunday announced the construction of two new bridges at a cost of Rs 399 crore in North Gujarat. The two new bridges will be built on State Highway Number 55.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given his in-principle consent for the construction of two new river bridges. The Department of Roads and Building presented the proposals for both bridges.

At a cost of Rs 179 crores, one of the bridges would be constructed to span the river Banas on the Radhanpur-Himmatnagar road near Radhanpur. This will be a four-lane-wide bridge.

The 59-year-old bridge that spans the river Banas, close to Gochnad village, connects Radhanpur with Chanasma. Its lifespan is coming to an end, and traffic on this section of the river is increasing. As a result, the plan to construct a new, four-lane bridge here has been approved by the Chief Minister. Around 40 lakh individuals would benefit from the newly planned bridge.

The second bridge, which would cost Rs 220 crore, will be built near Derol over the Sabarmati River on the Mahesana-Himachnagar road. The bridge will have six lanes.

The existing bridge on the highway connecting Mahesana and Himmatnagar, located on the Sabarmati river near Derol village, is 58 years old and presently two-lane. It is quite narrow, and its lifespan has ended. Around 50 lakh people would benefit from this new bridge.
