The police have arrested a minor BJP functionary and an ASI trying to illegally sneak in 800 bottles of alcohol in Gujarat. Jayesh Bhavsar, the former ward president of Asarwa ward in Ahmedabad for the BJP and Pravin Chauhan, an Armed ASI, working at the Shahibaug police headquarters, were held near Biladiya village in Vijaynagar taluka of Sabarkantha district.
The accused were caught in possession of beer bottles and a consignment of foreign liquor. Jayesh Bhavsar had history of being caught in relation to the illicit trade of illegal alcohol in the past as well Despite his shady record, he was made a member of the Divisional Rail Users Consultative Committee on the recommendations of former MP Kirit Solanki.
Police set a watch near Biladiya village after receiving information about an SUV full of illegal alcohol entering Gujarat from Rajasthan. When the police stopped the vehicle driven by the accused, Pravin Chauhan, they found 893 bottles of alcohol worth Rs. 1.96 lakh. Jayesh Bhavsar was caught in the passenger seat of the impounded vehicle.
