The energy chocolate bar that the BJP presented to its 400 Members of Parliament at its Central Parliamentary Committee meeting on Tuesday has been developed by the party’s Gujarat unit for massive distribution among malnourished children across rural areas in the State.
The energy bar wrapper has a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP’s party symbol and is part of a Bal Aahar (children’s food) kit which would be given to every party worker across Gujarat to give it free to malnourished children.
Gujarat BJP President CR Paatil, who is learnt to have coined the idea of the chocolate bar, last week launched a state-wide “Suposhan Yojana” of the BJP and launched the Bal Aahar kits. The ingredients of the energy bar include groundnut and dry fruits.
Official party sources said all the party workers in the State have been asked to adopt malnourished children and distribute the chocolates, nutritious food and 200 gm milk. The Surat BJP unit has already made arrangements to give away one lakh energy chocolates in the district.
The chocolate bar is also a part of a kit that the party distributed to its MPs on Tuesday. The kit also has the saffron cap that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore during a roadshow in Ahmedabad after the party won assembly elections in four states, including the politically significant Uttar Pradesh, last month.
The design of the cap is inspired by those worn in Uttarakhand and the “Brahm Kamal” or lotus flower that PM Modi wore on Republic Day. A thin patch of embroidery can be seen on the cap and BJP is inscribed on it in Gujarati, along with the party’s lotus symbol.
