Parth Kothekar, an artist based in Ahmedabad, created a Google doodle today to commemorate India’s 74th Republic Day. The Republic Day parade, a CRPF marching unit, and motorbike riders near the India Gate were all depicted in the doodle art.
Rashtrapati Bhavan in India was also depicted in the meticulously hand-cut paper doodle artwork. India proclaimed itself a sovereign, democratic, and republican nation with the adoption of the constitution on this day in 1950.
This year’s Republic Day is especially significant for India because it marks both the G20 presidency and the nation’s 74-year journey as a vibrant democracy. President Droupadi Murmu praised India for assuming the G20 presidency on the eve of Republic Day and said it was a chance to advance multilateralism and democracy.
Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of Egypt, who is this year’s Republic Day’s primary guest, witnessed the splendid parades put on by regiments of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
