The Business 20 (B20) inception meeting, which is being held as part of the G20, began in Gandhinagar, Gujarat today. The meeting will focus on priorities of the industries that will drive policy recommendations for the following year.
Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Ashwini Vaishnaw, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, India’s Sherpa for the G20, Amitabh Kant, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran, and a host of national and international business leaders attend the inaugural meeting.
Piyush Goyal, Commerce and Industry minister, said while addressing the session that the Indian economy has grown by 12 times during the last three decades. He also said that India is among the top five best performing nations in achieving climate targets, and is the only G20 country to get this place.
The Minister said India’s commitment to create a sustainable and inclusive growth environment. He urged global businesses and industries to adopt green and sustainable business practices.
Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said regarding the best economic practices India adopted during the Covid pandemic, which helped the country achieve robust growth with moderate inflation.
The Minister focused towards the success of the PPP model in popularising digital payments in India. He said the annual digital transactions in India today stand at 1.5 trillion dollars.
G-20 nations leaders will focus on climate issues, financial inclusion and global digital cooperation. Notably, B20 Meetings in Gujarat will help attract investments and strengthen the state’s position as the investment and economic gateway of India. Officials said B20 India 2023 dialogue will take place under the theme of ‘RAISE’, acronym for Responsible, Accelerated, Innovative, Sustainable and Equitable Businesses.
Through these sessions, delegates will stress over on making strategies that will enable business action towards driving faster, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth.
The Gujarat Government will conduct a short trip to Dandi Kutir, GIFT city and Adalaj stepwell for delegates and also for the next day they have planned a yoga session in the early morning.
