Gujarat anti-terrorism squad (ATS) has confiscated 210 kg of contraband, including heroin and drug precursors, on Sunday, 1st May. Earlier, ATS had seized a Pakistani boat near Jhakua Port containing 56 kilograms of heroin worth ₹280 crores. After interrogating the nine people arrested from the vessel, ATS could confiscate the rest of the contraband.
According to a Gujarat ATS official, the seizures carry 155 kilograms of heroin worth ₹775 crores. The accused hid the illegal products in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Gujarat ATS has launched a further probe into the matter and has dispatched separate teams to different states.
Gujarat ATS teams would conduct more raids at suspicious sites. In the initial inquiry, they revealed the name of Raji Haider and Avtar Singh alias Sunny as primary suspects. During the preliminary raids, around 35 kilograms of heroin were confiscated. NCB Delhi seized another 50 kilograms of heroin from Jamia Nagar, Shaheen Bagh, along with ₹30 lakh cash.
Gujarat ATS team with Narcotics Control Bureau conducted a joint operation in Delhi and arrested the four accused. Raji Haider, Imran Amir, Avtar Singh, and Abdul Rab Abdul Khalik Kakad were all taken under police custody. Haider and Singh are residents of South Delhi, while Amir hails from Muzaffarnagar. Abdul is a citizen of Kandahar, Afghanistan, and resides in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar.
Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat ATS’s team precluded a Pakistani boat named ‘Al Hajj’ last Monday, 25th April. The boat wandering in the coastal regions of India was carrying 56 kilograms of heroin in it.
