The state government of Gujarat is set to propose 11 new bills in the upcoming Budget session of the Assembly, which will start from February 1. The bills cover various sectors such as health, education, electricity, agriculture, and water.
One of the key bills is the Family ID Bill, which aims to streamline the delivery of welfare schemes and benefits to the eligible beneficiaries. Another important bill is the Gujarat Electricity Duty Bill, which will empower the commercial tax department to collect the outstanding electricity dues from the defaulters. The Gujarat Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Laws (Amendment) Bill is another significant bill that will remove the obsolete provisions that hinder the smooth transaction of agricultural land.
The other bills that are likely to be tabled in the Budget session are:
- The Gujarat University of Health Sciences Bill 2023, which will establish a new university for health sciences in the state.
- The Gujarat Public Trust (Amendment) Bill 2023, which will amend the existing law on public trusts and charities.
- The Gujarat Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Act 2023, which will amend the existing law on co-operative societies and their functioning.
- Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (Amendment) Bill 2023, which will amend the existing law on secondary and higher secondary education and examinations.
- Pandit Deendayal University (Amendment) Bill 2023, which will amend the existing law on the Pandit Deendayal University and its courses.
- Gujarat Warehouses (Amendment) Bill 2023, which will amend the existing law on warehouses and their regulation.
- The Gujarat Act for the Production, Conservation, Regulation, and Management of Groundwater Bill 2023, which will enact a new law on groundwater management and conservation.
- The Bombay Rents, Hotels and Lodging House Rates Control (Gujarat Amendment) Bill 2024, which will amend the existing law on rent control and hotel rates in the state.
