Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel addressed the Conclave of City Leaders organised at the capital of the state in Gandhinagar along with Mayors, Presidents, Standing Committee Chairman and Commissioners, Chief Officers and Regional Municipal Commissioners of the 8 Municipal Corporations and 22 ‘A’ Class Municipalities of the state.
Gujarat CM said that the towns and cities of Gujarat have become an excellent example of what urban development is like. He further said that as a result of the strong foundation of development and financial management that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid, the State Government and Local Self Government and the administrative wing and the elected wing are working together. Also, any development work in cities-metropolises does not stop due to lack of money.
The one-day seminar was organised by the Department of Urban Development and Urban Housing, State Government. Elaborate presentations were made in this conclave on the implementation plans, initiatives and future work planning of the state government regarding urban public welfare, infrastructure development, Swachh Bharat Mission, Amrit 2.0, affordable housing and financial management to the municipalities and municipal corporations of the state.
CM while participating in the discussion-consultation session of the seminar said that Municipalities, Municipal Corporations should generate their own sources of income and give full return of people’s money through development works.
Proud of the fact that Gujarat is leading in Niti Aayog’s index as a result of sound financial management, Bhupendra Patel added that this situation has arisen in Gujarat under the direction of PM Modi. He also added that when people have placed so much trust in us with huge public support due to the consistency of development works and financial management, now we have to work with double responsibility.
The Chief Minister said that Gujarat is going to be the host of 15 meetings of G-20, through the meetings of Urban-20, we will be able to reveal the urban development of Gujarat, the overall development of the trade and industry sector to the countries of the world. He appealed to all those present in the seminar to take the lead in building a developed Gujarat in realising the vision that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given to make India a developed nation.
At the beginning, Mukesh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Urban Development explained the purpose of organising the conclave through an elaborate presentation.Urban Housing Secretary Rakesh Shankar, Commissioner of Municipalities Administration Rajkumar Beniwal also gave a presentation detailing the activities of their field of work.Director of Swachh Bharat Mission(Urban), S K Prajapati, delivered a vote of thanks at the culmination of the conference.
