Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, speaking at the Semiconductor and Electronics Seminar during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, expressed his vision of transforming Gujarat into a ‘Global Destination for Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing’ under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Patel highlighted that Gujarat is the first state in India to announce a semiconductor policy, reflecting the rapid increase in technology penetration across sectors such as health, agriculture, and logistics. He emphasized the growing role of the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence in everyday life, and the consequent global demand for a reliable supply chain for semiconductor chips and electronic gadgets.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Patel believes that India, and Gujarat in particular, can provide a robust supply chain for semiconductors and electronics to meet global needs. He outlined Gujarat’s roadmap to become a leader in emerging sectors such as AI, IT, Biotech, Fintech, Drones, and Semiconductors.
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, inspired by Prime Minister Modi, has positioned Gujarat as a global platform for networking and knowledge sharing. The Chief Minister expressed his commitment to making Gujarat a ‘Future Ready’ state, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India, with a special focus on new-age emerging sectors like Semiconductor-Electronics.
Union Minister of Electronics and Railways, Ashwini Vaishnav, praised the Vibrant Gujarat Summit as a model that has fostered new technology and industries in Gujarat. He announced that the country’s first ‘Make in India’ chip will be produced in Gujarat in 2024.
Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron, expressed gratitude for the unprecedented cooperation of the state government and the Government of India, and predicted a strong semiconductor supply chain in India in the near future.
The seminar also saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Gujarat Government and Korean company SIMMTECH, as well as cooperation agreements between Micron and NanTech. and Cisco and NanTech.
