The Parimal Garden in Ahmedabad will soon become the first garden in the city to get a two storey gym. The garden in Ellisbridge will be redeveloped with a parking zone and Yoga facilities at a cost of Rs 10 crore but its size will be reduced to decongest traffic. Ahmedabad has more than 250 small and big gardens. These gardens have open gym facilities but the Parimal garden will have a two-story gym with state-of-the-art exercise equipment.
Mr Rajubhai (Rajesh) Dave, Chairman of the recreation committee, told a Hindi news daily that the road leading to Ambawadii Kalyan Jewellers, adjacent to the garden, will be removed by 20 feet . He said that the garden will be redeveloped at a cost of Rs 10 crore and its size will be reduced to address the problem posed by traffic. He said that the Parimal Garden will be the first garden in the city to have a two-story gym on the ground floor and first floor, with state-of-the-art equipment to enable visitors exercise.
Mr Dave said that the garden will have three gates, a Nature Corner and information on flowers will be displayed for visitors. A toilet block, underground water tank and parking zone will also be built in the garden. There will also be a sports area for indoor and outdoor games, an open theater and a yoga area. In addition,10 benches will be placed around the lake. The gym will also have a variety of cycling and exercise equipment.
