As many as 141 students from 12 halls of Boys Hostel voluntarily got tested for Covid-19 and 21 students out of them have been tested positive at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of BarodaPublic university in Vadodara. Boys’ hostels have been sanitized. On Thursday, 36 students of the girls’ hostel tested positive.
The 12 halls of the university’s Boys Hostels currently houses 270 students. Only 141 of them have been tested that too voluntarily, including students, wardens and security guards. As half of the students are still not undergoing the test. A warden of the SP Hall and a security guard have also been tested positive for Covid-19.
At the campus, the outbreak has led to many problems. A girl from the college was called on by the medical team as she had tested positive. However, the girl’s report had been exchanged with another boy from the campus and before she could start with her medication, the error was discovered.
As many as 36 students tested positive at the girls’ hostel out of 175 that were tested. The management of the hostel said that the families of all these students have been informed by phone.
Professors in the university’s commerce and science faculties, non-academic staff and their families have been infected by Covid-19. It is learned that in the last week 80 cases have been reported. Cases have been steadily rising since the NEC’s pre-inspection meetings.
In Vadodara, for the first time on Thursday, 3094 patients tested positive for Covid-19 in a single day.
