A 54-year-old man has been arrested for alleged sexual harassment of four girls aged between 8 and 11 years. Investigations revealed that the accused Chandrakant Patel had raped them and recorded the act on his phone.
On October 13, the Vaso police arrested Patel following a complaint from one victim’s parents.
According to Kheda police officers, Patel, a painter from Nadiad who lives alone, lured the girls with money, sweets and biscuits. “When they visited his residence alone, he assaulted them and recorded the acts on his mobile phone. We discovered hundreds of indecent videos on his device, which is now undergoing forensic examination,” a police officer stated.
Police said that Patel positioned his mobile phone specifically to record the assaults.
Kheda Superintendent of Police Rajesh Gadhia confirmed the assaults on all four girls. The parents filed complaints under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). “The girls were brutalised by Patel, who has been remanded in judicial custody. Further action will follow the forensic report findings,” said Gadhia.
The case emerged when one victim’s parents contacted police after noticing their daughter’s ill health. Upon questioning, she revealed the assault. Subsequently, other victims’ parents came forward with similar allegations.
