Gujarat Technological University (GTU) is all set to start nine courses including those in artificial intelligence, hospital management and machine learning. These courses are scheduled to begin from the June 2022-’23 academic session.
The courses were approved on Friday at a meeting of the Academic Council chaired by the Chancellor, Dr Naveen Seth. Directors of various postgraduate schools proposed to start the course. By starting these courses, GTU will focus on the implementation of the new education policy of the Central Government.
Another approval will be sought soon at the meeting of the Board of Governors. While 18 seats are being offered for post graduation, sixty seats are being offered for graduation. Details on admission to the courses will be announced shortly.
Dr. Naveen Seth, Chancellor, GTU, said that the courses will be designed in coordination and consultation with members of the Board of Studies, senior faculties and those associated with IITs and industries
Meanwhile, the GTU Academic Council has approved the graduation ceremony scheduled in January. Approval will be sought to award degrees to about 59,000 students of undergraduate and postgraduate level courses, including engineering and pharmacy.
Apart from Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Hospital management, the new courses will include Bachelor of Science in Design, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Masters in Business Administration (Integrated Course), Masters in Science (Bioinformatics), Masters in Science in Biotechnology and Masters of Engineering in Structural Engineering
With the help of experts from the Indian Institute of Technology and industry, students will have the opportunity to study in emerging technology courses and find ample employment opportunities.
More than 20 courses at the undergraduate and certificate level were started in GTU last year, in keeping with the new education policy.
A dozen courses have been started in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Data Science, Indian Knowledge System Internet of Things (IoT).
