Rockstar Games, the maker of the popular Grand Theft Auto series, has announced that its employees will have to work from office five days a week starting from April. This move comes as the company is close to finishing the development of its highly anticipated game, GTA VI, which is expected to launch in 2025.
The GTA VI trailer, which was released a few months ago, created a huge buzz among the fans, as it revealed a female lead character and a new version of Vice City, the iconic setting of the previous games. Since then, there have been many leaks and rumours about the game’s features, graphics, and gameplay.
However, Rockstar Games has also faced some security issues, as some of the game’s footage was allegedly leaked online by the child of one of its employees. According to a report by Eurogamer, a TikTok user named @i_see_in_4k posted two short videos, claiming to show the game’s map. GTABase, another gaming news site, reported that the source of these videos was the employee’s child.
In an email to the staff, Jenn Kolbe, Rockstar’s Head of Publishing, said that the decision to return to office was based on both productivity and security reasons. She also said that working from office had “tangible benefits” and that it would help them deliver GTA VI with the best quality and polish possible. She also said that the company had a publishing roadmap that matched the game’s scale and ambition.
